He’ll be performing his show Beatrice Arthur: Astral Dame at the Empire Stage Theater in Fort Lauderdale from May 5-9, 2021.

Like Jason, Bea herself performed at the Broward Center back in 2001, and Jason looks forward to bringing her back to the South Florida sunshine.

Join Beatrice as she makes her way down from the astral plane to the Empire Stage. She sings! She dazzles! And she has a lot of fun surprises up her sleeve. This is the Astral Dame’s South Florida debut, and you don’t want to miss out. This show also features a very special guest: Very Gerry. Very Gerry is a hilarious addition to an already hysterical show.

Like Bea Arthur, Jason B. Schmidt knows a lot about show business. Schmidt made his debut as a fabulous Bea Arthur send-up named Dorothea Xbornik in 2010’s Thank You for Being a Friend, the off-Broadway musical. In 2017, the Golden Gays debuted at Ru Paul’s DragCon. The Golden Gays have performed to sold-out audiences ever since!

Jason’s resume is extensive, including off-Broadway performances, film, voiceover, and television appearances. No matter what he does, you can bet that it’s going to be extremely entertaining.

The Empire Stage Theater

Jason is thrilled to be performing at Empire Stage Theater in Fort Lauderdale. Empire Stage is an artist-driven collective that produces new and existing works for the diverse audiences of South Florida, including the LGBTQ and senior populations.

The Empire Stage Theater continues to give opportunities for queer entertainers to perform in a queer-friendly venue in one of the gayest cities in the U.S – Wilton Manors, FL. This venue is cozy and intimate. It’s the perfect place for Bea to shine!
